QUESTIONS TO ASK YOUR SURGEON
The following are answers to a couple important questions you should ask when choosing any doctor to perform the breast reduction surgery.
Why is it important to be board certified?
Not all physicians who perform plastic surgery or who use the title, "plastic surgeon" are board certified in plastic surgery. The American Board of Plastic Surgery, or ABMS, certifies physicians in plastic surgery of the face and body. To be certified by this board, a plastic surgeon must:
- Graduate from an accredited medical school
- Complete a minimum of five years of surgical training following medical school, including an accredited plastic surgery residency program
- Pass comprehensive written and oral exams

certification and criteria, please visit www.ABPLSurg.org.
Why is it important to be a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons?
Surgeons, such as Dr. Golshani, who are members of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), have the credentials you can put your trust in. They are certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery and have received extensive surgical training, one of the most rigorous among specialty programs. Their training uniquely qualifies them to perform plastic surgery on the face and all parts of the body. Only members of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons may display the ASPS logo. This symbol of excellence in plastic surgery is what to look for when deciding on your surgeon.
